Mama Don't Preach...(or swing that Axe of Frozen Death)

I am Mar and I am a chick gamer. More specifically a chick RPer, and I guess if you want to get super technical, I am a chick MMORPGer. The chick part is only in the forefront today because I had a cute conversation with My last night and it reminded me of how many guys are totally convinced that chicks don't really play MMOs and that **"yes, obviously there are ones that do but they can't really be that into it..."** the ones that do aren't really as geeked out about it as the guys. My husband, My, and I were relaxing-a rare occurrence in a house with two almost under 2-and we fell upon the topic of WoW. After a really enjoyable theorycraft discussion, My turned to me and said: "Holy sh*t! Sometimes I forget just how into gaming you are!" We tried figuring out why exactly that is, and My said something that I think is relevant and at the root
of the "femme phenomenom"---> Women tend to play positions that rarely get the glory. Like priests. Like tanks. I do believe that when a healer does a good job, there is an audible sigh breathed throughout the group. But as a woman with a priest for a main, I have seldom heard "Great healz! Thnx!" and have more often heard "Wtf?! I smell a wipe!" I am actively leveling a tank and have reached the home stretch to 80, and honestly haven't found tanking to be that much different, in that respect, from healing.Yes, I am certain that those in groups with me (including my duo-inducing hubby) are grateful when I keep the aggro, but overall I don't think that tanks and healers get that much thought tossed their way unless they screw up. So what do you think? Is the no glory, all guts approach what is keeping women under the radar?

So it all made me think: How many WoW playing chicks and WoW playing mamas are out there?

And out of those, how many of you are healers or tanks and just as into it as your man pieces? Or, how many of you play WoW all by *cue crooning* yourseeeeeeeelllf?
